Shoes
Please choose one of the acceptable shoe styles for boys or girls (PDF download). School shoes should be of black leather; lower school girls may substitute navy. If you are unsure whether a particular style is acceptable for school wear, please consult with the administration before purchasing.
Grooming Guidelines
Clothing
- All clothing clean, well-fitting, and in good repair.
- School monogram only; no other visible logos, tags, or writing.
- Oxford and polo shirts tucked in.
- Upper School boys: necktie daily.
- No hats indoors.
- No outerwear (coats, etc.) in the classroom.
- Boys: plain white undershirts only.
- Girls: white or neutral undergarments; no visible straps.
- Skirts between the knee and mid-calf for upper school.
- Pants in a conservative style, neither baggy nor tight. No low riders or flares.
- For dress down days; jeans acceptable but not tight or "skinny" jean. No rips in clothing. Leggings ONLY if worn under a skirt (to the knee). No spaghetti straps or sleeveless shirts. Shorts to finger length on thigh. No bare midriffs.
Shoes
- Shoes clean and polished.
- No sandals, open-toed shoes, or high heels.
- No boots of any kind in the classroom.
Hair
- Girls: hair neatly groomed and out of the eyes.
- Girls: hair accessories to match the uniform – white, red, navy, or school plaid - and not excessive.
- Boys: hair neatly groomed in a traditional style – above the ears, off the face, and above the collar.
- No unnatural hair colors.
- Boys: no facial hair
Accessories
- Girls: minimal, simple jewelry; one pair of stud earrings or very small hoops only.
- Boys: simple chain or pendant, under the shirt only.
- No cloth, leather, or plastic jewelry.
- No alarms on wrist watches.
- Conservative makeup for girls in grades 10-12 only. Nail polish in light pink, light beige, or clear.
- No visible tattoos and body piercings (with the exception of a single pair of earrings for girls as described above).
Everything that is worn, and the manner in which it is worn, should complement the overall appearance of the uniform, not compete with or detract from it. In cases where a question arises, decisions will be left to the discretion of the NECA administration.
